Classroom Training

Open Water: No Open Water dives required

Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) will allow you to enjoy the underwater world significantly longer, depending on the mix and your diving depth. Another benefit is shorter surface intervals, and reduced nitrogen absorption. Since there are no dives required for this training, it's an IDEAL course to keep you in 'diving mode' during Calgary's famous winters! (unless of course you're iced diving!)

PADI Drysuit Diver

Minimum age: 12

Prerequisite: PADI Open Water Diver Certification

Requirements:

Classroom and Confined Water Training

Open Water: 2 Open Water dives

By excluding water almost completely, drysuits are usually less bulky and allow the diver to move more freely. Staying warmer and using less energy to move about means that drysuit divers tend to use less air, and make more dives per day. Add to that the ultimate goal of keeping warm while you enjoy the dives.

You'll then have an opportunity to practice line handling and safety procedures in the pool. Over a weekend, you will conduct three under ice dives to complete your certification. You'll dive from a custom ice diving house to keep you warm and provide all special safety equipment (lines, harnesses, etc).

Ice dives are conducted at Lake Minnewanka.
